Alors voici donc la première page de mon projet de fin de session. L'encrage et la couleur ont été entièrement réalisés en format numérique, une grande première pour moi. Ce n'est pas ce que je préfère, mais il fallait l'essayer pour le savoir! Évidemment, comme d'habitude, je ne suis plus du tout satisfait du résultat, mais passons au projet suivant!

Un grand merci à mes références : Mélanie pour la passante, M.-R. pour la personne masquée, et les Bandistes pour les figurants. J'espère que vous vous reconnaîtrez, surtout dans les pages suivantes, qui devraient paraître dans les prochains jours.

So here it is, the first page of my end-of-semester project. As a first for me, inking and colour were entirely done on the computer, something that I frankly don't care for much after having done it - though of course I needed to try it to know that! As usual, I'm now completely dissatisfied with the result. On to the next project!

Sincerest thanks to my refs: Mélanie as the passer-by, M.-R. as the masked robber, and the Bandistes as the bystanders. I hope everyone will recognize themselves at least a little, especially in the upcoming pages, which should be posted in the next few days.

Deux messages en un soir, c'est fou!

...aucune inquiétude que ça se reproduise dans un avenir rapproché. Entre-temps, profitez-en.

Cette image est une version en peinture numérique, sans traits, d'une de mes anciennes cases de BD, pour le prof d'encrage et mise en couleurs. C'est une de mes premières tentatives de peinture numérique, et je n'en suis pas encore satisfait, mais... il y a eu amélioration.

Je crois qu'entre autres, ce sont les limites de la case originale qui me tapent sur les nerfs.

This pic is a digital painting of an old panel of mine, minus the line art, an exercise given to us by our inking and colouring prof. It's one of my first digital paintings of the sort, and I'm not entirely happy with it, but there's definitely been some improvement.

I think that, looking back, the limitations of the original panel are what bothers me most.

Alors voici, je ressuscite mon blogue. Je prévois, à plus long terme, m'en servir pour afficher les travaux que je réaliserai en Italie. Pour l'instant, il servira à afficher divers projets des derniers mois.

La première image, produite dans le cadre du cours d'encrage et de mise en couleurs, est d'après un tableau de Caravaggio. Encrage entièrement réalisé à la main (encre de Chine et mon fidèle pinceau #3), couleurs avec Photoshop, mais rapidement. J'aime bien l'effet des ombres fortes, mais l'oeuvre originale est plus lumineuse.

C'est Saint-Jérôme, le traducteur de la Bible et saint patron des traducteurs... ça ne surprend sûrement personne, comme choix de sujet.

Here it is, the blog's back. Later on in the year, I figure I'll be using it to post my material from Italy, but for now, I'll just post some recent images from school projects.

The first pic, which I created for the inking and colouring course I was following this semester, is after Caravaggio. Inks entirely by hand (with India ink and my sweet, sweet #3 brush), colours quickly done in Photoshop. I like the really strong shadows, but in the end I found the original work more luminous.

The man is St. Jerome, patron saint of translators and himself translator of the Bible. No surprise that I'd have chosen him as subject...
